"It wasn't on their list. Which makes you wonder what else they were up to."
-Dr. Grant
Jurassic Park III, the movie where most fans love to shit on. But not me, I actually enjoyed this movie so much more than the majority of fans and actually feel like its a much worthy successor of Jurassic Park than The Lost World. This film is directed by Joe Johnston, who later went on to direct Captain America: The First Avenger. This film abondons Ian Malcom and brings back Dr Grant who is tricked in coming onto a rescue mission to find a boy who was lost on the island.
Out of all three films in this franchise, I have seen this one the most (mostly because it was the only one that frequently aired on TV). I also thought that this film really showcased the most on making dinosaurs cool; it featured a dino battle! A new Big Bad! Pteranodons! Water scenes! (I love water scenes) and so much more. I know I am in the minority in liking this, but the majority of complaints seem to come from the story which I don't exactly understand why people hate on that. I felt that the story was adequate and actually good for the story they were doing.
Another part that people didn't like was the music, and that is probably because this film has a different composer and therefore couldn't acquire the specific music to use. With that said I thought the music was nice and different, contrary to human nature I like change. The special effects still hold up, and their CGI/animatronic mix were really good. The Spinosaurus attack at night on the river was an amazing scene that holds up so well, the fire in the background just elevates it.
The movie had heart (which is something I think Johnston can do well) and some fun comedy. The dinos were terrifying and their fights were cool. The humans used technology to survive against the dinos (raptors) which shows how the raptors can be trained in the 4th one coming out.
While not as good as the original, and hey what could possibly come close to the original it was directed by Steven Spielberg, this movie is better and closer to the source of Jurassic Park than The Lost World was. It was nice having Dr Grant back and his fondness of kids echoing in this film from what he learned in the first. New dinosaurs kicked-ass and overall this is a fun enjoyable movie, contrary to popular opinion.
