Big Game Review

"Not Political, not religious. Just a grade-A psychopath"
                                                                             -Herbert

When a guy on the inside sets a trap to kill the president of the United States, it's up to a twelve year old boy to save him in the wilderness. At first glance people may think this is too silly and just not for them, but after watching this I'd say this blows most of American action films (as of late) out of the water. It does everything right and really gets you into the story. The feats they accomplish are great and the visual scenery of Finland is astounding.

You love all the characters. Jackson and Tommila play off each other well, and it's really interesting to see Jackson, known in this century as the ultimate badass, take on a role where he plays the cowardly president, and to top it off the kid , Tommila, is just one upping him in badassness. The villains of the film are so much fun, and you can tell that they ate up the screen when they were on. You were both rooting for the good and bad guys.

This is one of those films where it kind of unravels plot-wise on the way home as you think about it, some plot threads never realized, but ultimately in the now while you're watching it it's one of the best films to be engrossed. By the time the credits roll you go "That's it?" because they do a simple story, but they do it almost perfectly that you're begging for more at the end. I doubt they'll do another one of these, but if they do I know I'll try to be the first in line to see it. It has a limited run in theaters so you may not be able to catch it, but once it hops on Netflix or some other streaming/renting service give it a try and stay in on a rainy day to watch some good old fashioned action!
